Bohr's model of an atom was developed in 1913 by Niels Bohr and Ernest Rutherford. It has been since replaced by a more accurate quantum mechanical model of an atom using wavefunctions, but remains a cool and iconic picture. Here is a fun spin on it with fruit! The picture was hand drawn with pencils on black paper and digitally cleaned for printing.
